MoneyMov

Personal Project

A free personal finance tracker that handles income, expenses, investments, committees and lending correctly instead of treating everything as an expense. Designed, built and deployed solo as a full-stack MERN application.

  • Built the full stack end-to-end with React, Node.js, Express and MongoDB, from database schemas to deployment
  • Modelled income, expenses, investments (including committees/bachat) and lending as separate transaction types, so balances and savings are calculated correctly
  • Implemented secure authentication with bcrypt hashing, JWT in httpOnly cookies, email verification and forgot/reset password using hashed, expiring tokens
  • Hardened the API with Helmet, rate limiting, NoSQL injection sanitization and per-user data scoping on every route
  • Built an analytics dashboard with Recharts: category breakdown, income vs spending trend, and weekly, monthly, yearly or custom date ranges
  • Added multi-currency support, custom categories and a personalized onboarding, with a responsive UI designed for phones
  • Deployed the frontend on Netlify and the API on Render, and debugged production issues including cross-site cookies, CORS and iOS Safari behavior
